Michelle Graham
AFFILIATE ARTIST
Creativity has always been the thread running through my life. Over the years, I’ve explored a wide range of mediums—quilting, mosaics, stencilling, silversmithing, embroidery—constantly pushing the boundaries of tradition and technique. Colour and texture have always been central to how I express myself.
Through this journey, I’ve developed my own language of colour, placement, and texture—a personal toolkit built over time.
When I first brought these elements together on canvas, it felt like a lightbulb moment: suddenly, I had a way to express not just visual beauty, but emotional depth.
Most of my work is created using a palette knife—originally a practical choice due to arthritis, but now essential to my style.
The knife lets me work instinctively and physically, layering colour and texture in a way that feels both raw and deliberate.
I believe art that connects on an emotional level—whether through colour, composition, or some intangible “quality”—can transform a space.
It can lift a room, make it feel warmer and more welcoming. It invites people to linger, to look again, to feel something.
My abstract paintings are layered, intuitive, and grounded in emotion.
They often draw on memory, place, and the beauty of imperfection. I hope each piece brings a sense of joy, intrigue, and quiet happiness to the spaces they inhabit.
