Expressive brushwork, bold colours and layered surfaces reflect the living, dynamic forces embodied in the landscape. The exhibition Interwoven speaks to the layered relationships that underpin my practice: between landscape and identity, past and present, observation and feeling. Drawing inspiration from Brisbane and its surrounding regions, I build complex compositions of colour, shape, and texture that mirror the interconnectedness of natural systems and human experience. These works invite quiet contemplation, offering space for viewers to reflect on their own interwoven connections to place, memory, and wonder.

Growing up in country south-west Queensland fostered a deep and enduring connection to natural environments and an understanding of how place shapes identity and belonging. Over more than twenty years as an art educator, alongside a sustained commitment to painting, my practice has evolved into an intuitive exploration of the ways experiences of landscape become interwoven with memory, emotion, and self. Working primarily through colour, movement, and rhythm, my paintings do not seek to depict not just literal representations of a place. Instead, they translate the sensory and emotional qualities of being immersed in place; its vitality, energy, and restorative presence.
