Wendy Hall-Jordan
AFFILIATE ARTIST
I think I can say that I have always been an Artist. Like most aspects in life, it has been an evolutionary process-a classical beginning, ceramics and mosaic sculpture through to collage and printmaking. Finally, however I feel that I have now found my artistic place in the world. Professionally I am an Architect by trade and my practice involved Interior Architecture and Design. Of course, life is a funny thing, and I am now the Practice Manager of a Veterinary Surgery. Artistically, I struggled through my working years trying to find a medium in which to express myself. Amazingly I discovered collage!
Practicing and producing collage works was transformative and the possibilities seemed endless and exciting!
Collage seems to naturally lead to printmaking and the relationship between these two art forms is amazing. Pure joy!Artistically, I have developed this new phase of my practice for the past five to six years; discovering Studio on Brunswick three years ago has been fantastic. My printmaking journey is largely self-taught with forays into collograph or tetrapak printing.
Essentially, my current work embodies colour, animals and graphic print such as newspaper, composing works with a touch of quirky humour.
Additionally, I enjoy the concept of serialised pieces whereby each production is part of a central theme, evolving and storytelling through three or four works. Hopefully my work is evocative, colourful and a little bit funny bringing light and joy to your walls.
