Daniella De Cruz

Daniella D’Cruz is a UK born still life artist based in Brisbane, Queensland. Her richly layered paintings celebrate everyday rituals — citrus on striped cloth, coffee cups mid-conversation, flowers gathered from the garden — each composition infused with nostalgia, warmth, and quiet reverence.

After the sudden loss of her father, Daniella’s practice deepened into a meditation on memory and presence. Her work inspired by the Pop art movement reflects themes of connection, absence, and the beauty found in ordinary domestic moments. Painting from her home studio surrounded by collected glassware and vases, she builds intimate scenes that feel both personal and universally familiar.

Through bold colour, thoughtful composition, and subtle storytelling, Daniella invites viewers to pause — to remember, to reflect, and to find comfort in the everyday.

‘My work is influenced by the visual culture of the 1990s. Growing up surrounded by bold colour, graphic design and pop imagery—from music television, advertising and magazines—has shaped the playful palettes and patterns that appear throughout my paintings. These influences sit alongside the still life tradition, creating works that feel both nostalgic and contemporary.

I paint the quiet moments we almost miss — the objects that outlive us and the rituals that hold us together.’
