Kaitlin V. Cole

Kaitlin V. Cole is a Brisbane-based contemporary artist whose practice spans acrylic and watercolour. Beginning as an acrylic painter, she developed a body of conceptual work exploring identity, power, memory and the hidden narratives that shape our lives before expanding into watercolour, where she found a quieter, more immediate way to explore atmosphere, place and emotion.

Her work is driven by a fascination with colour—not only as a visual language, but as a cultural and historical one. This interest has led her to research pigment histories and symbolism, forming the foundation of an upcoming book on colour, storytelling and art.

Cole's paintings have been recognised in national exhibitions and awards, and her practice continues to move fluidly between expressive realism and conceptual abstraction. Through both mediums, she seeks to create work that invites reflection, rewards close observation and reminds us that every colour and every image carries a history.
